Please don’t yell at me but Christmas is six weeks away. The holidays are supposed to be about enjoying time with friends and family and the spirit of giving, but it can be stressful and expensive, and frankly overwhelming. One of my favourite tips for cutting the holiday stress, is making sure the majority of my gifts are purchased prior to the start of December so that I can kick back and enjoy the season when December rolls around.
But getting your gift shopping done early is dependant on knowing what you are going to buy your friends and family. Gift giving can be really challenging! I hate the idea of buying people things that they don’t really want or use. In many cases that means I resort to gift cards for their favourite stores. While I feel like gift cards are more thoughtful than buying something you aren’t sure they’ll love, they don’t have to be your only answer.
This year I decided to put together a gift guide filled with products your friends and family will actually want – and use!
First up is a gift that might seem a bit odd at first glance, but really it’s probably one of the most thoughtful gifts you can give. The gift of a good night’s sleep. I’ve been using a MediFlow pillow for the past 15 or 20 years since it was recommended to me by my aunt (a physiotherapist) for my neck pain and I’ve never turned back. Anytime I need to replace my pillow there was never any question as to which I would get – another MediFlow. And in recent years that’s what I’ve asked my parents to get me for Christmas – a new pillow.
The MediFlow pillow is different from your average pillow because it has a waterbase that you fill to your perfect level of firmness. Because it has water in it, there is a certain level of customization and you are able to move it around to support your head and neck perfectly.
The first time I went to Florida I even packed my Mediflow pillow to make sure I had a good night’s sleep – now that’s dedication!
But don’t just take my word for it, a peer-reviewed study conducted at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine found that it’s the only pillow clinically proven to improve the quality of sleep.
Not only can you customize the water level in your pillow, you also get to choose your preferred filling (fiber, foam or feather) to make it perfect for you! And when you don’t have to wake up to fluff your pillow, you sleep deeper and wake up with less neck pain!
In case you’re wondering, the waterbase is accessed through the back of the pillow. It’s really easy to fill/empty, and in all my years using them and living with cats, I’ve never had one leak.
Up until I was in contact with MediFlow to get ready for this post, I had no idea there was more than the basic MediFlow pillow I’d been using all these years.
But Mediflow was kind enough to broden my MediFlow horizions and sent me their new Floating Comfort Pillow which comes with a 10 year warrantee! It arrived at the perfect time as we also bought a new mattress so it was like sleeping in a whole new room!
Clearly I’m not the only one who was excited – Rose insisted in being in almost all the pictures I took trying to show the pillow!
My husband has been struggling to find a pillow that worked for his neck for over a year, but had never really seemed interested in trying my MediFlow. But when my new one arrived he decided he would give my old one a try. And guess what? After one night he decided that it was the right pillow for him too! He had literally gone through a dozen pillows including a Tempurpedic, feather pillows, a bamboo pillow, a foam pillow, numerous regular cotton fibre pillows – even the throw cushions from our couch! And what do you know? The Mediflow came to the rescue again!
The Mediflow was invented in Canada and is ranked #1 selling pillow in six countries (USA, Canada, UK, Germany, France and China) with over 5 million sold, and yet very few people know what I am talking about when I say I use a waterbase pillow. I am recommending it constantly and so it seemed fitting that it would be the first product I’d feature in this gift guide.
Wouldn’t it be nice to be the person to give a loved one the gift of a better night’s sleep? Or maybe, give yourself that gift!
Where To Buy:
You can purchase direct from their website, on Amazon, or look for them in your local retailer. I know in the past my mother has bought them at Shoppers Drug Mart and other pharmacy locations and physiotherapy clinics.
Disclosure: This is a sponsored post for Mediflow, but the opinions expressed are entirely my own. THis truly is the best pillow I’ve ever used and my husband and I both swear by them. This post also included affiliate links.
