Happy hump day! And now I feel awkward for having written that since I’m talking about a bra today…
Anywho, I finally had the chance to check out a brand I’ve heard a lot about over the past few years, but had never tried myself – Handful!
How perfect is their tagline? I mean really!
Handful was founded in Portland back in 2006 be Jennifer Ferguson. After struggling for years to find the perfect sports bra, she decided to try making her own and in a nutshell that is how Handful came into being. Here we are 10 years later, and Handful is a thriving business run by four women who have made it their mission to support women, no matter what life throws at them!
Now, I clearly must really love you all, because why else would I subject myself to taking a photo of my in my bra on the first day of my period (aka, bloat city)? But I really wanted you to see how well they fit.
I have a lot of problems finding sports bras that are comfortable through the lats and traps, and this one does a pretty good job of containing the girls without pinching me to death on the sides or at the shoulder. You can see a little in the top photo, and bit more easily in the bottom photo that while my lats stick out over the side a little bit, it’s not uncomfortable like many of my other bras. I think a lot of that is because the Handful bra is cut a little bit lower through that area giving me more movement.
I apologize that the photos are in bad lighting and a tad grainy, but I hope they give you a decent idea of the fit. I also really like the criss cross in the back (which can be changed to normal straps if you need/want), and the removable pads are amazing! These aren’t your standard bra pads, they are made to be inserted a certain way and can be stacked should you require a little enhancement. 😉

They sent me a basic black adjustable bra, but they come in all sorts of fun colours and they also have a couple other styles (and tanks) available in the line too.
Now let’s talk support. For a smaller chested gal I think these would be perfect for high impact activities including Zumba and running. For me (I’m a full C cup) I prefer a bit more support/compression for those activities. I have been wearing this to teach my Zumba + Zumba Toning combo class, but I don’t think I’d feel supported enough for a full hour of Zumba. Zumba and running aside, this (along with my Giant Tiger sports bras I talked about a few weeks back) are my favourites for my low impact classes including strength training, yoga, and low impact cardio. It’s just super comfortable and I can see why people would be drawn to wearing them for everyday!
You can check out (and purchase) all of their products online at handful.com, follow them on Twitter, Instagram and like them on Facebook.
I hope you are all having a fabulous day, and I’ll talk to you soon!
Disclosure: I was provided with a Handful bra free of charge in exchange for this review. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.
Finding a good sports bra is so hard – I feel like I’ve tried so many “maximum support” ones that weren’t so supportive!
I really like this one, though for my purposes I definitely wouldn’t call it “maximum” support. It’s a great medium sport bra though – and I think it would be perfect maximum support for A and probably B cup gals 😉
