It’s no secret. I go on and on about it at every blogging event I attend, I use it continuously, and quite frankly I’m not sure what I’d do without it even though I know I only use a small fraction of it’s functionality (and that is something I need to change): CoSchedule.
I first discovered CoSchedule a few years ago when I decided it was time for me to get my online life organized and stop wasting time I didn’t have.
Since then I’ve written another post (with a video tutorial) about how I love to use it to re-share old content in a way where I don’t find myself embarrassed because it’s shared a post that should not have been re-shared (ala “Tweet Old Post”).
But let’s back up a minute. Because unless you are one of the people who have been subjected to my endless rambling about how much I adore CoSchedule, you may not even know WHAT it is.
In a nutshell, CoSchedule is an online editorial calendar that does so much more than just keep you organized, check out this short video that shows you just some of the amazing things CoSchedule can do for you:
CoSchedule from Garrett Moon on Vimeo.
And having just watched that video, and then picked my jaw up off the floor, let me repeat – I adore this program and I only use a small fraction of it’s features.
Basically I use it for a few things. One, I use it to re-share old content like I mentioned above – but now will be looking into integrating the automation so that it re-shares my evergreen content FOR me without me having to do a thing. I can already feel my love affair getting more serious!
The number one reason I got CoSchedule in the beginning was to help with my social media posts. I found it frustrating to have to go to different platforms (Facebook, HootSuite, etc.) to schedule posts to share my articles. With CoSchedule, I can do everything within my blog post window. I write my post, enter my SEO, and then prepare all of my social media posts (aside from Instagram and Pinterest) right within that window.
I can even let it choose the best time to publish my social media posts instead of trying to figure it out on my own.
And another of my favourite features is the ability to schedule Facebook posts to Facebook groups you admin. I admin a few different groups, and it’s hard to be in #alltheplaces so this makes it easier for me to stay on top of everything without having to be everywhere all at once. So helpful. So, so helpful.
One feature that is amazing (when I remember to use it) is the Headline Grader (I’m sure it has a better name). If you start your blog drafts from the calendar you can enter you title and CoSchedule will grade the title for you, as you can see the first title I chose for this post only scored a 41.
In the image above you can see that you can also click to get a full analysis of your title, if you click that is gives you a lot more information on how you can improve you title, how it will look in Google and different feeds, etc. All around it’s pretty darn cool.
I played around with it a bit and tried a few different things and ended up choosing the title that had the highest score. A score of 69 still isn’t amazing, but I’m fine with it. Another cool thing is it keeps all of the title names you’ve tried in a list so you can go back and see which one was the best.
That’s great if you are like me and easily forget, haha.
Those features aside, CoSchedule is fantastic for Customer Support and have always answered any question or issue I’ve had quickly and also offer amazing value through their blog and even offer free Master Classes (which I need to complete) for their users.
Seriously, I have barely even scratched the surface of things that CoSchedule can do for me, making it easier for me to optimize my blog posts, social media and marketing my evergreen content. And yet I adore it. Just think how much I’d love it if I actually used it for all of the things it can actually do! And that is my goal for the rest of this year – to actually learn to use CoSchedule to it’s full capacity. Because I’m a busy girl and need all the time saving I can get.
So what are you waiting for? You can get a free trial of CoSchedule to take it for a test drive (and you can extend that free trial if you share on social media), and if you decide to join I promise you, you won’t be disappointed.
I have a theory. When things are free you use them a little bit, but when you are actually paying out your hard earned money, you are much more diligent about using them so that you don’t waste your money. Now, I’ve admitted that I don’t use CoSchedule as much as I should, but even for as much as I do use it, I feel I get a great return on my investment.
If you feel like your blogging and social media is drowning you, that you can’t stay on top of all the tweets and Facebook posts and blog drafts, and SEO and , and, and – please do yourself a favour and at least check CoSchedule out. Seriously, it’s free to try. But I was smitten form day one, and you may just be too.
Disclosure: I am using my referral link for CoSchedule in this post. If you get a paid subscription I get a discount on my own, but honest to goodness I adore CoSchedule and would be writing this post even if there was no referral program. Pinky swear.
