And just like that September is gone. How’d that happen!?
What are you folks up to this weekend? I’m off to my level 3 YogaFit training this weekend, which means I’ll be putting in 13 or 14 hour days when you factor in my driving to and from the venue. So I’m sort of planning to sleep all day on Monday, haha. Thank goodness I only teach one class on Mondays and that’s not until 7:30pm!
This week’s faves seems to be all of the multi-media variety. Starting off with movies.
Last Sunday I finally say Bridget Jones’s Baby. I am a huge Bridget Jones fan, the first two movies are two of my standard go-to movies. I was concerned that they would bugger it up but when I saw the Rotten Tomatoes rating was a very respectable 78% I was excited.
Was it as good as the first two? No. But it was a very respectable third instalment. There were parts that seemed slow and a bit dull, but there were other parts that made me laugh so hard I was crying. Over all it was a great way to round out the series. And without spoiling anything, those who know and appreciate that the Bridget Jones series is a play on Pride and Prejudice, and that Mark Darcy is played by Colin Firth (who also played Mr. Darcy in the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice) will especially enjoy what she names her baby. But enough nerd talk.
As with the other films there is a lot of language, so if that is something that bothers you, you might want to wait for the edited for TV version 😉
Otherwise, if you saw and liked the first two movies, I think you’ll enjoy this one. And you can be sure it’ll be added to our movie collection when it comes out on blu-ray.
And then the full length trailer for Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them dropped this week. I am so looking forward to this movie!!
The Harry Potter theme music at the end give me chills every time I hear it.
Prince William and Kate are in Canada this week, and this photo (originally on Instagram, but also on Facebook here if you’d like to share it) surfaced of Kate while talking to, be greeted by, or whatever by our PM Justin Trudeau. The caption is amazing, hahaha.
I just recently finished reading the Heroes of Olympus series*, and really enjoyed it. If you are a fan of Greek and/or Roman mythology, or the Percy Jackson series you should check it out. It is in some ways a continuation of the Percy Jackson series, but is also a stand alone series (I’ve not read the Percy Jackson books, only watched the two movies they made and didn’t feel as though IÂ needed to go back and read them to figure out what was going on).
Cookie Dough Frosting. What more needs to be said?
A reader sent me this link to an article they wrote after their kitten was stung by a bee, and I wanted to share. Here in Eastern Canada we are mostly out of “bee season” but I know that’s not the case everywhere. Pekoe got stung on the paw once and the poor dude wasn’t very happy for a few days so I can’t imagine how a kitten would feel!
Back in the summer Mitchum Canada sent me a couple cans of their new dry spray deodorant which I’ve been putting to the test. They also sent me this fab Black & White disposable camera which I am still working my way through. I have a fear that I’ll get it developed and nothing will be in focus. Remember those days? So stressful!!!
I’ve been surprised at how much I like the deodorant. Both have a clean pleasant scent that doesn’t fumigate you (you know what I mean. Those deodorants that you spray and immediately have to leave the room to find clear air?). I keep one in my aqua fitness bag to use after teaching Aqua Zumba when I am most definitely in need of some odour control. 😮
I hadn’t even heard of Mitchum (I live in a hole) until this package arrived, and I’m glad it did, otherwise I may never have tried this product!
That’s is for this week! I hope everyone has a fabulous weekend, and I’ll see you on the Interwebs in OCTOBER! 😀
