A week ago Sunday I participated in the very first Brigadoon Wine & Dash fun run through the Vineyards of the Gaspereau Valley. This was an all-day event open to both walkers and runners alike, and weather wise it was pretty much perfect. There were times I was down right cold, but most of the time I was comfortably warm without being hot.
There were four vineyards participating, and somewhere around 400 participants. Each particiapant chose a starting/finishing winery when they registered, and from there we all ran/walked/moved in a clockwise direction from one vineyard to the next. So probably 1/2-3/4 of the participants never crossed paths be we were all moving in the same direction, at the same time, but in different parts of the course.
All those darn hills aside, I don’t have anything negative to say about this run. From what I saw and experienced, it was very well organized, and a really great time was had by all.
If they do this run again I would definitely sign up again, though I think it would have been even more fun to do with a friend (or two), and even walk it instead of running.
One thing I would do differently next time is I would register to start/finish at Gaspereau Vinyards as the distance between in and Grand Pre Vinyard is the farthest on the route, and it would be nice to get it out of the way first, and then tackle the mountain to Luckett’s right after that. I feel badly for those who started/finished at Luckett’s and had to hit that hill at the end of the 18km. Oye. Just look at the elevation map from my Polar (that big spike is the hill to Luckett’s)
Hahahaha, oh my gosh, it was SOO hilly!!!
