Good evening everybody! It’s been a hot one here today! A little while ago I went to the kitchen to get a drink to cool off when I suddenly thought about how good a nice tall glass of lemonade would be. Yum! There was no lemonade or lemons in the house – but there were a couple of unsuspecting limes kicking around in the fridge.

Limes but no lemons? Sounds like it’s time to make some limeade! Truth be told, I’ve never had limeade before but I love all citrus-y drinks so I decided to go for it!
Off I went to the kitchen and as usual, sort of just winged it making my own limeade recipe as I went.
Ingredients
- 2 limes
- 3/4 cup sugar {if you prefer a tangier, more sour limeade you may want to decrease the amount of sugar slightly}
- 2 3/4 cup water
Instructions
- Zest the two limes into a small bowl
- Juice the limes (I find cutting them in half lengthwise makes it easier to get all the juice out)
- In a small saucepan, dissolve 3/4 cup of sugar into 3/4 cup of hot water to create a simple syrup. Taking the 2 or 3 minutes to do this step will keep you from having that gritty sugar feeling you can get when you simply add sugar to cold water.
- Remove saucepan form heat and add the lime zest. Stir and let sit for 3-5 minutes
- Once the syrup has cooled add the lime juice to the saucepan and mix.
- In a juice container, combine your simple syrup with 2 cups of cold water ad refrigerate until cold.
- If you don't like having lime pulp or lime zest in your drink simply strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer as you pour it into the juice container.
- Once your limeade is cold, pour into a tall glass and enjoy!

Next time I will definitely make sure I have at least 4 limes so I can double the recipe. I’ve already blasted through all of this batch and want more!
I hope you are all having a lovely Sunday evening!
Please leave me a comment and let me know if you try it! <3
