Ringing in the New year
Happy New Year! We rang 2011 in with fine style with a triple header of movies (Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, The Other Guys and The Hangover) at home with our furry babies. It was a pretty hard core night…
Really the excitement was too much for Pekoe to handle so he spent the evening/night napping on one of us. Ollie on the other hand took up post guarding a pile of Christmas presents
but she couldn’t handle the excitement either and had to have a nap
Movie snackage
a blend of fat free sour cream and cream cheese, salsa and cheddar cheese with multigrain tortilla chips for dippin’ and we split a bottle of Coke (we’re party animals I tell ya!).
Followed by our New Year’s Celebration
Chocolate Mousse in a Martini Glass!
Today I spent most of the afternoon putting Christmas away tree is gone, decorations are gone, gifts are put away. My heart died a little when the tree disappeared.
Now that some time has passed I can now appreciate having the house back to normal, not having to yell at Ollie every two minutes for chewing on tree branches and a sense of normalcy.
Goals for 2011
Do you set goals or resolutions for the new year? I usually like to set a few goals for the coming year and this year I decided to create a goal board for the year’s goals. That way it’s a constant visual reminder of what I want to accomplish.
You can see I’ve broken my goals down into three categories: Life, Blog and Work. There are a number of items that cross over from one area to another but I tried to place them where I felt they were most appropriate. You’ll also notice I’m not horribly specific with many of my goals and that is purely for simplicity.
Life
You can see some of my goals include buying a washer and dryer, a new bed, a desktop computer, paying off some debt, and taking a vacation/travelling. Less specific goals consist of simple words like sleep, fun, visit, stretch, etc. which I think are pretty self explanatory. Two of the most fun goals for the year are the monthly date night goal and the “win!” goal (which means I want to get back into entering a few giveaways around the blogosphere!).
Work
These goals are pretty straight forward. This year I want to really implement the to-do list for things I need to get done. Normally I only go to a to-do list when I have a crazy amount of stuff to get done but if I did this daily I probably wouldn’t get to that stressed crazy place as often (or at all – fingers crossed!). Another goal is signified by the coffee break sticker. When I’m working I often put food to the back burner which I can’t do, with a physical job like mine I need to really make sure I’m taking meal and snack breaks.
While the practise yoga daily goal could very easily go in the life section, I’ve put it under work simply because I felt it was an important aspect of my job. By practising yoga daily I am strengthening and repairing my body while stretching and making my body more flexible. All of these things will help me in my job which is why I put it there.
You probably noticed the big WEBSITES section. I already have a website for my zumba classes, my thought is to launch a “main” or “home” website that is simply my name that will have links to all of my other sites including my blog(s)* as well as information on me, my background, etc. It just seems like the right way to connect all the dots for people, and make it easy to find out who I am, etc.
The last Work goal I want to touch on is the goal to get a few more licenses specifically the zumba toning license (zumba with light weights – once i have that I’ll have ALL the zumba licenses available!), and because I don’t want to paint myself into a zumba corner, I would also like to get my Turbo Kick and Hip Hop Hustle licenses. Both are programs developed by Chalene Johnson (created of turbo jam) and both look pretty fun (and sweaty!). The cool thing with those two licenses is I can do the home study option and get them done anytime without travelling anywhere which is nice.
Blog
These ones are pretty short and sweet. My goals for 2011 are to post daily, food blog & share recipes and grOW (in readership, sponsorships, size, comments, etc.). Then speaking about the blog world, not my blog specifically, my goals are to participate in blog stuff – twitter parties, linky’s, etc. (I don’t want to be a lone reed…) and comment LOTS on other blogs. I tend to only comment on the blogs of people I know. That’s dumb. How on earth am I suppose to “meet” anyone new if I don’t communicate with them? Exactly.
*I have been working on a new blog (since last summer) that I am planning to run in addition to this one on a totally different topic. Many of these same goals will apply to that blog once I get going on it (which should be in the next day or two, technically it already exists).
Well, those are my goals in a nutshell for 2011 (does anyone else keep typing 2001 instead of 2011?), how about you – any goals or resolutions? I’d love to hear what you’ve got planned for this fresh new year!

Love the goal board idea! I posted my goals for 2011 today too! Happy New Year friend!
